The Carmelo Child Development Center is one of several child development programs operated by the Carmel Unified School District. Located in Carmel Valley, across from the Mid-Valley Fire Station, Carmelo serves children from birth through kindergarten entry.

Carmel Unified School District also operates Apple Pie Preschool in Big Sur; River Rec, a recreation program serving Carmel River Elementary School; T-Rex, a recreation program serving Tularcitos Elementary School; and Cachagua Children’s Center, a recreation program serving the greater Cachagua community.
